sbo333 Is Italy's sleeping giant finally waking up? Ahead of AC Milan's Europa League last-16 tie with Arsenal, Nick Wright looks at how Gennaro Gattuso has turned their season around and got them dreaming of a return to the glory days...

Genaro Gattuso produced all the soundbites you might expect when he was unveiled as AC Milan's new head coach in November. "We need a battlefield spirit," he growled. There was talk of "great passion" and a "never-say-die attitude". "I never want to lose," he added, "even playing table football against my son."

The former midfielder was typically bullish, but there was no hiding the size of the task ahead. Milan had spent close to £200m on 11 new signings in the summer, but a stuttering start to the season under Vicenzo Montella had left them 18 points off the top after just 14 Serie A games. For the new owners targeting a quick return to the top, patience had run out.

Gattuso's competitive edge was unchanged from his playing days and there was no disputing his love for Milan, but the scepticism which greeted his appointment was understandable. A distinguished playing career had been followed by largely unconvincing spells in charge of Sion, Palermo, OFI Crete and Pisa. Most recently, he had coached Milan's U19s.

Gattuso had the goodwill of the Rossoneri supporters who cherished his service on the pitch, but was he really the right man for the dugout? Beyond the chest-thumping and the rallying cries, did he have the managerial acumen to turn AC Milan's season around? sbo333

The early signs were not encouraging. Gattuso could hardly have asked for a kinder opening fixture than a trip to Benevento, who were yet to pick up a single point in Serie A, but Milan were denied victory by an extraordinary stoppage-time equaliser from goalkeeper Alberto Brignoli. "Maybe it would've been better to get stabbed than concede this goal," said Gattuso afterwards.

That sucker-punch was followed by an embarrassing 2-0 defeat to Croatian side Rijeka in the Europa League, and soon there were domestic defeats to Verona and Atalanta too. A month into the job and the pressure was already mounting on Gattuso. "Disaster," read one headline in La Gazzetta dello Sport. "It will be a low-key Christmas at Milan."  sbo333

Spain v Switzerland: Julen Lopetegui ready for debut tournament

แทง บอล ฟรี Julen Lopetegui says he is ready to lead Spain into a tournament for the first time and cast aside recent disappointments. Having led the U19 and U21 international sides to victory, Lopetegui stepped into the senior hot seat in 2016 replacing long-serving boss Vicente Del Bosque. That followed Spain's Euro 2016 last-16 defeat to Italy, and an even poorer performance at the World Cup in 2014 - but now the former Rayo Vallecano is ready to begin preparations for his first tournament with a warm-up match against Switzerland on Sunday, which is live on Sky Sports Football.

He said: "When you come from a painful moment after being knocked out of a tournament the first feeling is one of sadness, but when I arrived that sense was already passing and there was excitement to keep going, to forget that tournament and prepare for the next one. "We found a team in great health in every sense, a side full of top players. The fact they had gone to a tournament and not done as well as expected didn't mean everything was a mess.

แทง บอล ฟรี "Instead, we found a great team and we are trying to carve out our own path, trying to evolve and grow the style of play we already had." Part of Lopetegui's rebuilding job has been to revitalise the squad, and the one which will face Switzerland will be without several notable players. Chelsea quartet Cesc Fabregas, Alvaro Morata, Pedro and Marcos Alonso were all omitted from the 23-man squad to travel to Russia, while only four of those who helped Spain to Euro 2008 victory are still in the reckoning.

Switzerland have won 12 of their last 14 matches since losing on penalties to Poland at Euro 2016, and thrashed Panama 6-0 in their last game in March. They will be without Granit Xhaka for the trip to Spain, with the Arsenal midfielder ruled out with injury on Thursday, but otherwise have a full squad to pick from. Vladimir Petkovic's team are keen to enter the World Cup in form after being handed a tough group, featuring Serbia, Brazil and Costa Rica. แทง บอล ฟรี
